Topic: Effective Prayers.
Text: Luke 11:1-4. (Adult Lesson 26)
Memory Verse: Luke 18:1.
Introduction: Prayer is talking to God about our Needs and Desires in his will in the Name of Jesus Christ. A Man who consistently bows his knees to God in Prayer, can stand before Anything. Daniel bowed to God in prayer- thrice daily, Daniel 6:10; and his Enemies replaced him in the Lions Den. Daniel 6:24.
Conditions For Answered Prayers.
1) Pray with Faith.
. “Without Faith it’s Impossible to Please God”. Hebrews 11:6.
Have Faith, . . . doubt not. . . whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing ye shall receive. Matthew 21:21-22. There’s No Successful Praying without Faith.
2) Depart From Sin.
If I regard Iniquity in my Heart, the Lord will not hear me. Psalm 66:18.
Now we know that God heareth not Sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. John 9:31.
The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, James 5:16b. In other words, Prayer Looses its Power, where there is no holiness.
3) Pray with Humility.
God resists (ignores) the Proud, but gives grace to the Humble. James 4:6.
4) Pray according to the Will of God.
If we ask Anything, according to his Will, he Heareth us. 1 John 5:14.
You ask and receive Not because you ask Amiss. James 4:3.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Matthew 6:10.
Pray with the Right Motive. Some Right Motives includes but not Limited To: Solving a Problem in Your Life or Those around You, The Blessings of God for You and Others, Stopping The Harassment of Satan or his Agents, Peace in Your Community, Church and Country; Evangelism/Soulwinning, Praying for The Sick, Divine Protection, etc.
I recommend that you look for a promise or promises of God in the Bible that covers what you are praying for and quote that promise of God back to him. “ . . . thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name”. Psalm 138:2b. In other words, Pray according to the Bible.
5) Forgive those that offend You.
And when you stand praying, Forgive, If ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in Heaven may forgive your Trespasses. Mark 11:25.
6) Be Specific.
If you shall ask anything in my Name, I will do it. John 14:14.
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? . . . If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 11: 12 -13.
7) Be Persistent. . . Do Not Give Up.
Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her: else by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said hear what the unjust judge said. And shall not God avenge his own elect which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? Luke 17: 6-8 in the Parable of the Persistent Widow. Revd. Dr. Paul Enenche once said: “Praying without Ceasing, is the Secret of Winning without Ceasing”.
